Meet the Artist

 

Lewis is a mostly self taught artist with some good help along the way. He has studied the work and life of the great master Claude Monet. Lewis utilizes Monet's color theory. Monet's mastery of complimentary color is a guide for Lewis' paintings.  Lewis is a member of the American Impressionist Society (AIS).

Lewis paints in Oil, Acrylic and watercolor and at times with mixed media. Lewis has paintings in many art collections in the United States as well as several foreign countries.

Lewis has paintings included in the Anishnaabe Art Collection at Michigan State University. His work is included in several former governors of the State of Michigan art collections.

Lewis signs his paintings with his Anishnaabe name of Wyaudtnoong (wy-yot-noong). The literal translation Is "Land of the swirling waters" the Odawa name for Detroit Wyandot is a version of the name. 

Lewis enjoys painting scenes of Northern Michigan. Woods, lakes and diverse wildlife provide ample opportunities for his art.
